Background information

MF Global Australia Limited is an Australasian broker providing a full range of financial products and services including exchange-traded futures and options and is an intermediary in the markets of foreign exchange, securities, and other major financial instruments around the globe.


MF Global Australia Limited was placed into Voluntary Administration on 1 November 2011. The administrators have taken control of the Companies and all of their operations with immediate effect, in accordance with the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) (Act).


The first meeting of creditors of the companies was held on Friday, 11 November 2011 at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth Hotel.



The second meeting of creditors was held on Friday, 2 March 2012 at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth Hotel. The creditors resolved that the company would be wound up via Liquidation.

Final notice to clients

The Liquidators are looking to finalise payment of monies owed to CFD, Futures and Margin FX clients.

A number of clients entitled to receive a distribution have not yet come forward to claim their funds.If you believe that you are owed funds resulting from a client account held with MF Global Australia Ltd (In Liquidation), please contact the Liquidators via email by close of business Friday 29 April 2016.

After this date, any outstanding funds will be remitted to ASIC Unclaimed Monies in accordance with Section 544 of the Corporations Act 2001. Clients will then need to enquire with ASIC about how to claim the funds.
