Belgium selected as home to Deloitte University EMEA
Deloitte launched Deloitte University Europe, the Middle East and Africa (DU EMEA) in Brussels, Belgium. The university builds on the success of the first Deloitte University in Westlake, Texas, USA, launched two years ago and which has been attended by more than 50,000 people from over 70 countries

European Salary Study 2013 - European employers also pay for the crisis
Deloitte announced the results of its European Salary Survey for the fourth time. The study indicates that Belgium faces very high employer costs, which is largely caused by the high and unlimited social security contributions.

Meet Rik Vanpeteghem
CEO Deloitte Belgium
Rik Vanpeteghem is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Deloitte Belgium. He first took up the position on 1 June 2008. Deloitte Belgium is a partnership with about 150 partners and 2.600 employees, operating in offices across Belgium.
As Belgian CEO, Rik leads and manages the Executive, and sets the strategic direction of the firm. He also represents the Belgian firm in the Deloitte global network, as a member of the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL) Governance Committee, DTTL Board of Directors and the EMEA Council.
Prior to becoming CEO, Rik was the managing partner of the Tax & Legal practice in Belgium (2004-2008) and a member of the Belgian Executive. Rik began his career at Deloitte, in 1985. He became a tax partner in the Belgian firm, specialising in international tax planning. Throughout his career, Rik has worked directly with many large clients; he was named several times as one of Belgium’s top tax advisers in the International Tax Review’s World Tax surveys
Rik is an active member of business organisations such as VBO/ FEB, VOKA and IFA.
Rik has degrees in law and business management from the University of Leuven, and a degree in tax law from the University of Brussels. He is a strong promoter of the role businesses can play in education and in encouraging entrepreneurship – in addition to its own outstanding continuing professional education programme for Deloitte people, the Belgian firm runs educational programmes for clients and supports national youth enterprise initiatives such as Vlajo/ Jeunes Entreprises.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of the KULAK, a division of the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL); and he is a member of the King Baudouin Foundation’s West Flanders support committee.
Rik comes from Kortrijk in West Flanders, Belgium, where he lives with his wife and their three children. His native tongue is Flemish (Dutch); he is fluent in French and English, and speaks basic German.
