Insurers’ preparations for the new IFRS accounting rules
In the summer of 2013 the Economist Intelligence Unit, on behalf of Deloitte, surveyed 296 insurers to investigate the views of insurance companies on the intricacies of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and their level of preparation for implementation.
Annual Financial Reporting Seminar 2013
Bridging the GAAP
Our Annual Financial Reporting Seminar at the National Convention Centre on Friday 15 November was attended by almost 500 delegates.
The publication of new financial reporting standards by the Financial Reporting Council, mandatory from 2015, will lead to major change for Irish GAAP reporters, and a reporting structure affording the possibility of major benefits for IFRS qualifying entities. Our seminar provided an insight into what this means for companies and the way forward. Changes to IFRS for 2013, new standards for implementation in 2014 and further developments were also explored, as well as developments in company law reform.
Our key note speaker was Ronan Nolan, a senior partner with the firm for many years, and incoming President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland in 2014. Ronan drew from his experience with both the firm and the Institute to provide attendees with insights into the future direction of the accountancy profession in Ireland and the many challenges it faces.
