IIM, Ranchi wins Deloitte’s Maverick Season IV

The Maverick is a signature industry-academia connect programme by Deloitte focused on inspiring unconventional thinking, a solutions mindset, leadership behaviors, and client service competencies among the future workforce in an endeavor to prepare them for the challenges of a rapidly evolving business world.

New Delhi, September 05, 2015: Deloitte a large professional services organization, today, concluded Season IV of its industry-academia connect programme – Maverick. This season, witnessed participation from over 15,500 management students from leading business schools across the country and the evaluation was based on unconventional thinking, a solutions mindset, leadership behaviours and client service competencies. After several rounds of debates, presentations, and evaluations, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ranchi emerged as the winner of Maverick Season IV.

Speaking at the grand finale, SV Nathan, Senior Director and Chief Talent Officer, Deloitte India said, “It is heartening to see talent and intelligence of this quality amongst these students. They have displayed the potential of becoming great business leaders of tomorrow. With this generation, a constant would be learning - not just in terms of what could be taught to them, but also what could be learnt from them. Since its debut in 2012, Maverick has been one of the key elements in Deloitte’s innovative approach towards inspiring new age leadership competencies among the student community. Participants are challenged to experience the life of a consultant in a global professional services organization and demonstrate new-age competencies that define success in the corporate world, thereby helping them become life-ready and career-ready for India Inc. Conducted in a multi-stage elimination format, Deloitte’s Maverick Season IV had over 2,000 shortlisted teams participating, which in itself is a testimony to the success and reception of the program by the student community.

Apart from the main business solutions challenge, three additional competitions were held on the sidelines of Maverick. The ‘War of Bands’ saw bands from various schools pit their musical skills against each other. ‘Be the One’ – a unique contest where students shared their personal story of successes/ achievements that helped shape them into the person they are, saw several participants step up and share their stories. ‘Roll the Reel’ was the third contest aimed at providing students with the opportunity to unleash their creative skills leveraging videos and new-age motion graphics, to depict their idea of an ideal place to work at.
