Akinyemi advises leaders across industries in East Africa on navigating change and disruptive events. He has over 15 years of corporate reporting experience on capital market transactions, deals, restructurings, valuations, and complex financial reporting on IFRS, USGAAP and IPSAS. Akinyemi has helped several institutions to develop and implement ESG and sustainability reporting strategies. He has supported organisations on finance transformation projects through business process reviews, procedures, policy developments, technology best practices and benchmarking.

He writes and speaks widely on corporate reporting topics and has authored over 50 articles and a book titled “Deliberate: Financial Reporting in a Complex World”, which addresses the challenge of how organisations can incorporate and translate the complexities they face today into reliable financial information to ensure long-term competitiveness.

Akinyemi is passionate about mentoring and serves on the board of advisers of the mentorship academy of the accounting students association at the University of Nairobi.

He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrated Reporting from the University of Pretoria and a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics from the Obafemi Awolowo University. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a certified public sector accountant (ICAEW IPSAS Certificate).
