Karen McNicholls

Karen is a Tax Partner in the UK’s London office. She leads the London Private Markets Tax group.

Karen advises international professional services businesses on their structures and transactions. She is Lead Tax Partner or LCSP on the vast majority of the largest UK HQ international law firms and has advised on most of the significant M&A activity in the legal sector in recent years. She has worked with the boards of many of these firms on their international expansion and financial integration strategies, especially in developing suitable remuneration, operational and governance structures. This always involves close teaming with many other parts of our practice across NSE and beyond. Karen also advises a number of international corporate groups and several professional membership organisations, including mutual traders and charities. Karen’s past experience has included quoted and private groups/funds in real estate and consumer business.

Karen is a Chartered Accountant, is author of RAY: Partnership Taxation, a member of the leadership committee of the Association of Partnership Practitioners, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation through the published thesis route.
