Gerdus spent 25 years in the auditing profession and advising insurers and reinsurers in South Africa, and the rest of Africa.
Through his participation at various forums and working groups in the past decade he has closely followed the development of the international accounting standard for insurance contracts (IFRS 17). He is the deputy chairman of SAICA’s short-term insurance interest group and chairman of the long-term insurance interest group and a representative at SAICA’s IFRS 17 working group.
