VAT update for the Education sector in the GCC
Join us at for our upcoming Indirect Tax Education webinar taking place on Monday, 6 July 2020 at 12:00 pm (GMT+4).
Following our previous VAT roundtable held on 13 November 2019, the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the General Authority for Zakat and Tax (GAZT) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), have been active on a number of VAT issues effecting the education sector. This, together with a number of recent developments such as the VAT rate increase in KSA, has resulted in a number of considerations which businesses operating within this industry should be mindful of.
Our team of Indirect Tax specialists from across the GCC will explore the following topics:
- An update on the latest tax authority positions on the VAT implications of grant funding and student accommodation;
- Considering how the education industry can manage indirect taxes to help mitigate the impact of COVID-19, in particular looking at cash generation opportunities;
- The announced VAT rate increase in the KSA from 1 July 2020; and
- The latest developments on managing the VAT disputes resolution process across the region.
