Rachel Besley

Rachel joined Deloitte in 2002 from a major law firm where she practiced as a technology lawyer. In 2012, she became the firm’s General Counsel, Legal Partner and Secretary to the Board, which saw Rachel lead the internal legal team of 30+ corporate, commercial and dispute lawyers who advise the $2.5 billion Australian practice on all professional legal matters.

In August 2021, Rachel took the next exciting step in her career within Deloitte to become the interim Chief Strategy Officer for the Deloitte Tax & Legal business and Chair of the law firm, Deloitte Legal. Rachel was recently named as Corporate Counsel of the Year 2021 by the Women Lawyers Association of NSW and featured on the Legal500’s GC Powerlists for 2016 and 2017.

Rachel’s areas of specialization include technology law and board and executive governance.
