Your Pathway to Global Opportunities

Meet Ania Newberry and Bradley Jones, two of our many A&A team members who have put their hand up to head off on a short-term international secondment in early 2023.

Tell us about yourself and your upcoming secondment!

Ania: I’m a manager in the National Strategic team. I’m off to Poland for three months in January 2023.

Bradley: I am an Audit Senior in the Adelaide Audit team and will be going to London for 12 weeks from January to the end of March 2023. During my secondment, I will be an Assistant Manager in the Deloitte London Office, working on audits for companies with a 31 December 2022 year-end. 

​​​​​​​When you first found out that you were getting seconded to the UK and Poland, how did you feel?

Ania: Very excited and grateful that the Talent team were able to establish a secondment to Poland, something that was not previously done.

Bradley: It felt very surreal, and I could not wait to share the news with family and friends. 

Why did you decide to do a secondment and what are you most looking forward to?

Ania: I’ve always wanted to do a secondment with Deloitte, having caught the travel bug back in high school. The opportunity to go on secondment is one of the many perks of working with Deloitte. 

Bradley: Travelling is a passion of mine, and so combining work and travel via Deloitte’s Global Pathways program was something I could not resist. I am most looking forward to working on our largest global clients from the London Office, along with meeting lots of new people – hopefully forming connections for years to come.

Can you tell us a bit about your experience to get to this point to date – what was involved and what tips do you have for others thinking of doing the same?

Ania: The process of applying was very straightforward. I would recommend starting having conversations on fitting a secondment in your career path sooner rather than later, even if you aren’t 100% sure whether you want to go.

Bradley: This was something I raised with my Coach very early – which I think is the best tip for others who are thinking of completing an international secondment. Once my coach was aware, they were extremely helpful in helping this become a reality.
