Deloitte and the Oxfam Trailwalker
The Trailwalker is a foundation stone of Deloitte’s relationship with Oxfam, one of our firm’s three national community partners. As a National Sponsor of the event, Deloitte has been participating in the 100km challenge since 1999 and our financial support for it has now surpassed $2 million.
Dennis Goldner participates in his 20th Oxfam Trailwalker
On Friday April 7, 2017, a record 23 Deloitte teams took part in the 2017 100km Oxfam Trailwalker in Melbourne to raise funds to fight global poverty. They included one exceptional walker who clocked up his 20th such event: the chairman of The Deloitte Foundation and of Oxfam Australia Dennis Goldner. Dennis spoke about the importance of the Oxfam Trailwalker and how it helps Deloitte, the Australian event’s biggest corporate participant, to make a positive impact in the world. By the end of that (up to) 48 hour Melbourne trek, Deloitte teams raised more than $91,000 through this penultimate step up challenge to make an impact that matters. Further Trailwalker events with Deloitte participants will take place later this year in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
Congratulations on your 20th Trailwalker Dennis Goldner, you are an inspiration to us all!

Why the Oxfam Trailwalker is Deloitte Partner Forde Nicolaides’ one ‘must-do’ every year
According to Forde, a one-time mid-distance runner: “Anyone can do the Trailwalker with some regular training and an active lifestyle – you don’t need to be super fit. In the last 10 years I have taken many Deloitte team members on the 100km journey and whilst some have sworn not to repeat it, many have chosen to do it again. Oxfam is an important charity that provides to those who need it most – impoverished families and children in third world countries in desperate need of food and health services. The Oxfam Trailwalker is a great way to contribute back to the community.”
