When individuals can bring their whole, authentic selves to work, they’re able to unleash their potential and work more purposefully.
However, for many LGBTI+ Australians, this is not commonplace, with some feeling compelled to hide their true selves at work for fear of professional roadblocks or exclusion.

StandOUT is Deloitte Australia's lesbian gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI+) network and ally community. Through StandOUT, our goal is to create an inclusive work environment where our LGBTI+ people can be their authentic selves and feel empowered, regardless of how they identify.
Led by Consulting Partner Robbie Robertson, the StandOUT Advisory Group is comprised of several LGBTI+ ‘out’ role models from a number of business units who collectively contribute our LGBTI+ inclusion strategy.
What we do
StandOUT initiatives support our overall goal of creating an inclusive environment where all our people feel respected, valued and included. The StandOUT Advisory and Working Groups meet regularly to coordinate exciting events, training and awareness sessions throughout the firm.
During the year, we celebrate days of significance like 12 Days of StandOUT, International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), and Wear It Purple Day. Additionally, we are involved in other community events and initiatives as detailed below.
Annual Workplace Equality Index – Pride in Diversity
Deloitte is an employer of choice for LGBTI+ Inclusion, having achieved Gold Employer Status through the Pride in Diversity AustralianWorkplace Equality Index (AWEI). 2021 is the eighth year Deloitte has participated in the Index, having received Gold in 2020, Silver in 2019, Gold in 2018 and Bronze for the three years prior to that. In 2017, our CEO at the time, Cindy Hook, was named CEO of the Year at the Australian LGBTI+ Inclusion Awards.
