Bringing light to thousands living in energy poverty
Globally, more than one billion people live without safe and reliable lighting, including many of our near neighbours in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Deloitte joined SolarBuddy to empower 2,000 Australian school students to build solar lights. These lights were donated to 5,000 students and families in PNG living in energy poverty, enabling students to study after dark.

Bridging the education gap: Deloitte Mexico

Teaching the children of PNG to read and write their way to a better future

Lifting Indonesian seaweed farmers out of poverty
The global seaweed industry is booming but many seaweed farmers remain in poverty. Indonesia produces 50% of the prized red seaweed market with 18% of the world’s crop from South Sulawesi. Much of the industry’s value is captured by global intermediaries. A Deloitte Australia/Indonesia pro bono project for Oxfam helped thousands of seaweed farming families get a better deal.

Co-creating opportunities with Indigenous tertiary students
In 2018, Deloitte Brisbane and the Oodgeroo unit of the Queensland University of Technology embarked on a trailblazing, paid internship pilot program for Indigenous students. The six month program enabled four proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to gain career-forming professional experience in a top tier professional environment.
