Our recruitment process

Applications for our Graduate and Vacationer program opportunities for international students is by Expression of Interest (EOI) only.

This means you will need to make an online application via the 'Expression of Interest' form for your preferred business area (specific business area service lines and apply links are found in the Program Pathways section above).

We will review all EOI applications, and our team will be in touch to invite you into the recruitment process should your application be successful to be selected.

1. Expression of Interest application

Once you know which team you'd like to start your adventure with, you are ready to begin your application.

We recommend applying as soon as our programs open to increase your chances. We’ll be taking into consideration your:

• Work, leadership and team experience

• Extra-curricular activities

• Academic results

• Passion, enthusiasm and motivation

• Resumé.

2. Online Assessment

To help us understand your fit with Deloitte, we will invite you via email to play a logic game. This assessment is designed to give you a little taste of working here. You will only need to complete the game once, even if you have applied for multiple roles.

If you are successful, we will be in touch either over the phone or via email to detail next steps. So sit tight!

3. Phone/Video Interview

A friendly member of our Graduate Recruitment team will arrange to connect with you over a phone or video call.

Take the time to research Deloitte on our website, and be prepared to chat with us about:

• Your motivation to join Deloitte

• Your interest in the team you have chosen to apply for

• Personal experience and aspirations – we want to get to know the real you!

4. Assessment Centre

At the assessment centre, senior members from the business area you applied for will be there to assess how your competencies could add value to their team. On the day, you can expect:

• An information session

• Group activities

• Case study

• Interview

• Networking with Deloitte team members.

5. Case study*

In some cases, you will need to complete a case study assessment which considers situation analysis and numerical interpretation.

The case study is an interactive interview and you are encouraged to ask questions, seek clarification and bounce ideas off the interviewer.

*Not applicable to all areas of the business.

6. Final Interview

Congratulations – you’re almost there! At this final stage, you will undertake a behavioural-based interview with a Partner or Director in the team you are looking to join.

This is also your opportunity to discover more about life at Deloitte and the people you could be working with.

7. Offer

You will always hear from us, regardless of whether you are successful or not. If you haven’t yet heard, that means your application is still being considered. Good luck!

Your questions, answered!

We are particularly interested if you've got diverse experiences and are passionate about being part of a business which thrives on innovation, opportunity, collaboration and inclusion.

  • Communication skills.

Program eligibility*

You're eligible for our Graduate Program if you are completing your studies in mid to end-2021, and ready to join the program full-time in either July 2021 or early-2022.

You can also apply if you have completed your studies up to 24 months prior to your program commencement.

*International Students: Please also review the specific eligibility criteria for International Students outlined in the 'About the Program' section above, and also at end of these FAQs.

Can I apply for more than one role?

We recommend that you apply for no more than 3 roles.

I have applied for a role at Deloitte in the past 6 months. Can I apply for another role?

If you have applied and been unsuccessful for a specific area within the last 6 months, unfortunately you cannot reapply to that area again. You are however able to apply for opportunities in other areas. Please consider how you could take on board feedback and refine your application.

Chartered Accountants (CA) Program Eligibility

Some of our business areas require you to be eligible at the end of your degree to enter the CA Program. We accept applications from candidates who are non-CA eligible – just make sure you apply for an area that is suitable to your background.

If are unsure if you are CA eligible, please visit the CA ANZ website.

Academic Transcripts

We require a copy of your transcript upon application. We accept unofficial transcripts, but if you're successful in securing a graduate role, you will be required to provide an official transcript.

International students

Deloitte Australia* accepts applications for our graduate program from students who do not yet hold Australian permanent residence into the following business units in order to augment our talent pools: Consulting, Risk Advisory and Financial Advisory.

If you are in this category, you must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

  • You must currently reside lawfully in Australia
  • You are currently studying or have studied a relevant degree
  • You will have studied this degree for at least two years in Australia

  • You will have completed an approved English Language test and prove that you have reached 'Proficient English' as set by the Department of Home Affairs. If you hold a passport from the UK, USA, Canada or the Republic of Ireland you are not required to provide evidence of English Language Proficiency (which is in line with immigration requirements)

  • You agree to lodge an application immediately upon finishing your degree and prior to your start date with Deloitte for either the Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485 – either the Graduate or Post-Study Work Stream) or the Subclass 189 Skilled – Independent if you do not already hold one of these visas.

Please note: Deloitte will be unable to provide any assistance in obtaining either the Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) or the Subclass 189 Skilled – Independent Visa. You will be responsible for independently applying for and obtaining the relevant visa and this will be a condition of your employment.

Due to the changes announced by the Department of Home Affairs in July 2018 to the subclass 189 and the transition from the subclass 457 visa to the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa, Deloitte’s priority is the hiring of domestic graduate talent into our Audit & Assurance and Tax & Legal business units. Acceptance of international student applications in the above areas will be based on exception only.

*All Australian offices except Canberra, where Australian citizenship is required.
