Charities thank Deloitte Australia for funds to aid COVID-19 responses
The Deloitte Foundation has donated $100K to help with emergency supplies, food and medical research and remains poised to help further.
When Deloitte Australia recently distributed funds from its workplace giving program Deloitte Wishing Well* towards our charities’ COVID-19 responses, the recipient organisations expressed their immediate appreciation. Further much-needed funds were distributed across our National Community Partners – Oxfam Australia, The Smith Family and Many Rivers. The following responses show how charities will make the most of our contributions.
There is an overwhelming need for food relief … Deloitte’s donation means OzHarvest is able to deliver an incredible 19,592 meals to people in need during these unprecedented times.
Garvan Institute of Medical Research
Thank you to all at Deloitte for selecting Garvan as a beneficiary of these funds, which will be allocated to our COVID-19 research. Garvan scientists responded to the COVID-19 outbreak immediately. We are leveraging our interdisciplinary research expertise in immunology, antibody development, genomics and epigenetics to fight the virus.
This huge contribution will make a significant impact to the people we support, especially at this difficult time when COVID-19 is affecting the most vulnerable people of all. We are still operating our essential services such as Foodbank,
Health Clinic and Crisis Accommodation. It's so heartening to see all of our
community of supporters, including our workplace giving organisations, rallying
around to support our people at this time.
The Smith Family
The Smith Family is determined to do everything we can to support more than 50,000 young Australians already on our Learning for Life program. Our team has been working closely with the families we support, and this has allowed us to uncover and quantify their critical needs over the next 6-12 months. Funds that we receive to support our COVID-19 response are crucial in helping us to do this.
In addition to providing critical medical supplies, World Vision is focusing on relief efforts to 17 priority countries where we have a strong presence. These countries have high COVID-19 transmission rates, low-capacity health systems, and extremely vulnerable groups of displaced families or refugees.
We will use the donation to support the distribution and content development for our “Top 10 Tips for protecting your business” which we have developed to support businesses during this time. Thank you.
The Salvation Army
Thank you for the wonderful news about the donation from your employees and the Deloitte Wishing Well. We are incredibly grateful and I can confirm
the funds will be allocated to our COVID-19 response. The main need in our communities is still around providing essential supplies and meals for those who are vulnerable and isolated.
*Deloitte Wishing Well donations are pooled into a fund which is distributed to Deloitte’s workplace giving charities on a quarterly basis. The recipients are selected by the staff Wishing Well committee, based on current need and support.
