DeloitteASSIST wins Research & Development Project of the Year at AIIA iAwards
06 September 2019: Deloitte Australia’s innovation of a voice-activated bedside assistance, DeloitteASSIST, has won the Research & Development Project of the Year award at this year’s National Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) iAwards. The AIIA iAwards is the nation’s leading awards program that helps to recognise, celebrate and elevate home-grown Australian tech innovation.
DeloitteASSIST is a breakthrough innovation that provides patients with better access to nursing care, improves care responsiveness and supports better planning of hospital staff workloads. Even in modern hospitals, the primary method through which a patient can request assistance from a nurse is a button and a bell that cannot distinguish between patient needs or provide reassurance. In a world first, DeloitteASSIST transforms the patient to nurse experience by replacing the binary call button system with intelligent voice commands. Patients are able to speak their request and artificial intelligence prioritises requests to the right resource to meet the patient’s needs.
Deloitte Consulting Principal Nick White said: “We are honoured to have been awarded for our work on DeloitteASSIST and would like to recognise all of the carers, patients, and broader team involved in bringing this innovation to the market. Over the course of the journey we have been privileged to work with many amazing people and support their personal health journeys. We look forward to continuing this work as we further enhance the DeloitteASSIST solution and make it available more broadly.”
AIIA CEO, Ron Gauci, said: “Each year, the iAwards program elevates the many Australian innovators who think beyond the norm, can see beyond the horizon and who can bring ideas to life. As a nation, ‘we punch well above our weight’ globally when it comes to innovation, technology, our people and our industries.
"We continue to be inspired by Australian innovators, whether they're in start-ups, the public sector, community services, primary school, academia, or private enterprise.”
