Deloitte boosts private sector and resources teams with three partner appointments
Jillian McCorkindale returns to Deloitte Private from BDO where she was a partner in their tax team. She has over 20 years of corporate tax and business experience gained in Australia and the United Kingdom, working closely with emerging businesses across a range of industries to understand their issues and opportunities and provide effective tax planning and advisory solutions.
Vincent Snijders joins the Australian firm in Perth as an assurance and advisory partner after five years at Deloitte West Africa in Lagos where he led the expansion of the region’s energy and resources business. Vincent has 25 years’ experience in serving large listed and multinational companies with Deloitte in The Netherlands, Middle East, and most recently in Nigeria.
Deloitte’s risk advisory leadership is changing hands. Partner Richard Thomas has retired from the firm and handed over to Hendri Mentz. Hendri has returned to Perth from Darwin where he was most recently Deloitte’s Northern Territory managing partner.
Hendri has more than 22 years’ experience in assurance, risk management and process improvement consulting to a variety of private and public sector clients. He is recognised as a pre-eminent specialist in the design of risk, control and financial management frameworks. He has been responsible for the delivery of a large number of major internal and external audits and led a number of significant financial management consulting engagements, exposing him to all aspects of organisational governance.
Deloitte Western Australia managing partner, Michael McNulty said: “Our firm, and our local practice, remains a magnet for talent, and the arrival of Jillian, Hendri and Vincent will add specialist skills and further boost our presence, and service offerings, available to our clients. They bring a wealth of experience at a local, national and international level as leaders in their respective fields, enabling us to further serve our clients’ needs as the state’s economy recovers.
“Our risk advisory offering here in Western Australia has gone from strength-to-strength under Richard’s leadership and will continue to do so under Hendri’s. We wish Richard every success on his retirement,” he said.
Jillian McCorkindale said: “The private market space is a key growth area in WA. I have seen the innovative and progressive approach Deloitte has taken to servicing this market and was excited by the opportunity of bringing clients on this journey.”
Vincent Snijders said: “Energy tops the agenda for governments and businesses around the world, and Australia is no exception. Fluctuating demand, constrained supply, volatile commodity prices, and changing regulatory environments are just a few of the critical issues contributing to the complexities of today’s energy industry. I’m looking forward to helping our clients navigate through these challenges and opportunities here in WA, the rest of Australia and the wider Asia Pacific region, by leveraging my international experience and the global network of Deloitte’s Energy and Resources group.”
Hendri Mentz said: “Our choice is to deliver a fundamentally different risk practice, addressing risk in new ways, predicting and building resilience within our client’s organisations and changing the view of risk professionals. Risk is inevitable, but knowing the worth of risk flips uncertainty into possibilities. Through Deloitte’s intelligent risk advice we enhance our client’s capacity to act. It’s about helping organisations meet their obligations to shareholders, society and the environment in a sustainable way. That’s the game changer.”
