Deloitte recognised yet again as one of Australia’s Most Innovative Companies
Four years running in the Top 10
9 October 2020: Deloitte Australia has once again been recognised as one of Australia's most innovative companies, placing second in the Professional Services category of this year’s AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies awards, making it the second year Deloitte has made the top two and the fourth consecutive year Deloitte has placed in the top 10.*
The AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies Awards were presented via a live stream event late yesterday, and showcased Deloitte’s SuperBot as an example of world-class innovation. The SuperBot is a purpose-built chatbot created by Deloitte for superannuation funds to help them respond to unprecedented member demand for information.
Jason Bender, Deloitte Head of Innovation, said: “Placing in the top two for the Most Innovative Professional Services category two years in a row is wonderful acknowledgement of our sustained commitment, creative mind-set and disciplined approach to innovation.
“Every day, Deloitte is faced with the task of solving our clients’ most complex problems in an environment subject to constant change. We know that past success provides no future certainty. We embrace this fact as an opportunity to pioneer disruptive technologies, hunt for new opportunities and reimagine our value proposition – unlocking a route to build and maintain a true competitive advantage. The SuperBot is an excellent example of this way of thinking. It is trained to answer questions around the impacts of COVID-19 on the superannuation balances of Australians and enables superannuation funds to respond to questions from their members in an automated manner, without having to invest in expensive platforms, as well as giving them visibility into more complex questions that are on members’ minds.
“Innovation requires the willingness to challenge ourselves to push further and faster for our clients, our people and the future of our firm. I am proud of and grateful to all our staff, my fellow Partners and the firm’s executive for their continued devotion to and investment in innovation.”
Rob Hillard, Chief Transformation Officer, Deloitte Asia Pacific, said the COVID-19 crisis has created an environment ripe for innovation: “The challenge for business today isn’t to make innovation happen, it is happening anyway as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Rather, we need to focus on directing it for long-term success and sustaining it post-crisis. This isn’t just the responsibility of leaders. The innovators amongst us must have the courage to speak-up, try new ideas and, most importantly, spend our days seeking to constantly learn and question the status quo.”
*Deloitte was recognised on the AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies list as Australia's Most Innovative Professional Services business in 2019 (#1), and took out the hotly contested Best Innovation Award overall that year. The firm ranked 10 in 2018 and 6 in 2017.
