John Langoulant to join Deloitte as public sector Senior Adviser
15 May 2015: Deloitte has strengthened its Western Australian government and public sector team, with experienced public and private sector executive John Langoulant AO joining the firm as a Senior Adviser, effective immediately.
Mr Langoulant was WA’s Under Treasurer for nine years (1995–2004) and has led as chief executive of a number of organisations, including Oakajee Port and Rail, Australian Capital Equity, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia.
Today, he is chair of a number of corporate and not for profit roles including the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline, the Government Employees Superannuation Board, Westpac in Western Australia, Telethon Kids Institute and Curtin University.
Deloitte Western Australia Managing Partner Michael McNulty said: “We are incredibly proud to have a person of John’s calibre join our firm. His experience across Western Australia’s public, private and not-for-profit sectors truly speaks for itself. His hands on expertise will add significantly to our public sector client offerings.”
Mr Langoulant said: “This is an exciting opportunity. I’ve worked with many of the Deloitte team over the years. They are experienced, energetic and committed to guiding thinking around public sector reform and providing real client value.
“I’m looking forward to leveraging my experience with the broad capabilities, including Deloitte Access Economics, and continuing to make a significant impact on the future of our state.”
Deloitte’s public sector leadership team is also changing hands. Current leader, Consulting partner Monish Paul, will take up a new South East Asia leadership role with Deloitte in Singapore later this year, and is handing over to Consulting partner Jenn Morris.
Mr McNulty congratulated Monish on his contribution to Deloitte’s public sector team.
“Under the guidance of Monish, our public sector offering is a strong and well-established area of the firm. We wish Monish every success in his new role and congratulate Jenn on her appointment,” he said.
Stepping into her new role, Jenn Morris welcomed Mr Langoulant’s appointment.
“I’m looking forward to taking on the leadership role and continuing its success from Monish,” she said.
“With Australia, and Western Australia, in the midst of wide-ranging public sector change, John’s deep understanding of our own institutions and practices will be invaluable.
“Importantly, the opportunities to drive efficiency through the reform agenda will make a real difference not only to the future of WA’s public sector, as well as our service offerings.
“He has a wealth of experience when it comes to the strategic issues affecting WA, including optimising assets, smarter service delivery models, productivity and digital transformation in government.
John Langoulant’s appointment follows the arrival of former Outcare CEO Amanda Wheeler, another public sector specialist, earlier this year.
