Specialist Asset

More from assets

Our team of practical asset management specialists is focused on helping clients get more from assets. Whether it’s improving asset performance, reducing costs, or controlling critical asset risks, we offer services to bring about lasting change for our clients' businesses.

Our philosophy involves making simple, practical changes that not only show quick value, but can be sustained for the long term.

Whilst our team of reliability engineers and asset management specialists are familiar with the latest analytical techniques and technology, they also bring their depth of experience as tradespeople, supervisors, and maintenance leaders who know what it takes to add value at the frontline. We never lose sight of the fact that to be successful, change must be felt and embraced on the shop floor.

Tackling common pain points

Our Asset Management Loss Pyramid (below) is our approach to identifying and prioritising the different forms of value losses that a business can experience.

Each element of the pyramid allows us to connect outcomes to asset reliability and control, to practices, and ultimately capabilities, so that we can understand and communicate:

 • The magnitude of the loss of value
 • What’s causing the loss
 • How to correct the loss

As a result, we can plan an asset management improvement journey to progressively remove these losses and create ever more value.

Our asset management improvement models

Our practical approach to asset management is based on embedding key concepts and models into the culture of an organisation. No solution is effective unless it is felt on the shop floor by the person “swinging the spanners.”

Reliability means the extent to which a business controls its assets. It requires an organisation to effectively manage failure modes to prevent defects from forming and eventually causing a breakdown. It’s based on three elements:

Effective asset strategies

Effective execution driven by a culture of Proactive Maintenance

Continuous Reliability Improvement, driven by the maintenance execution team

Many businesses are reactive in their approach to reliability. Failures aren’t managed, at best they are detected, hopefully with enough time to get ready to replace the failed component.

In a proactive maintenance environment, the workforce is dedicated to following practices that go beyond reactive maintenance and instead attempt to extend asset life. It’s the result of a culture that emphasises operational discipline and a desire to take care of assets.

Many improvement projects focus on improving the quality of processes, standards and strategies. Often, however, businesses get stuck in an “improvement loop” where all this hard work leads to no benefit. The reason is a lack of operational discipline to follow these standards.

Without first verifying that a team are following their current systems of work, they cannot sustain any improvement. Without discipline, new strategies will be ignored as well.

Transformation is a process of building capability. In a transformation, teams deploy their agreed actions and works to improve their performance and build a culture of proactive maintenance execution and operational discipline.

As an external partner, we provide technical support, coaching and mentoring to leaders to help them achieve results. Our involvement gradually declines over time as capability builds.

Our asset management tools

Equipment Condition Supervisor (ECS) - SaaS

Research has shown that approximately 70% of hydraulic system failures are associated with solid particle contamination in sampled oil. Furthermore, operations are often only utilising around 20% of the data being collected from each piece of equipment.

The algorithms in our Equipment Condition Supervisor (ECS) identify the precursors to component damage at the earliest onset and often before significant wear is occurring. ECS is Deloitte’s predictive maintenance platform that drives automated data analysis for your equipment, making sure your maintenance crew’s time is well spent on tasks that add real value to your operation. The web-based system is a simple yet effective interface between your data and the work orders that it produces from the analysis.

This technology based solution can be incorporated into your asset management schedule to offer consistent and complete data analysis, 24/7 in a traceable and auditable format. It only takes 15 minutes to master, which makes it easy for you to deploy across sites allowing you to get in and do the work as preventative maintenance.

Capability uplift: Asset Academy

Our team have been delivering training and leadership support to clients for many years, covering topics such as work management, maintenance planning, maintenance supervision and management, project management, and reliability.

We’ve traditionally delivered training in a face-to-face setting. However recent events have shown quite clearly the need to “embrace the new normal” and explore new ways of learning. Our training programs cover both technical and asset management processes, along with leadership and supervision skills. Above all, they’re based on practical experience from the lessons learned by our team members.

Current courses:

 • Reliability
 • AM Leadership & Supervision
 • Maintenance & Work Management
