Deloitte Transforms Jemena into a Data-Driven, Customer Centric Organisation

Amazon Web Services Enabled Success Story

By building an analytics platform on Amazon Web Services, Jemena is on a digital transformation journey to become a data-driven, customer centric organisation.

On a mission to ‘bring energy to life’

As power-generation technology evolves, consumers are increasingly turning to solar, batteries and electric vehicles. To adapt to this distributed energy future and strategically plan power supply for the network, energy utilities such as Jemena are looking to better understand their customers. Jemena owns and operates a diverse portfolio worth over AUD11B of energy assets across the east coast of Australia and supplies millions of households and businesses with essential services every day.

The introduction of household smart meters in Victoria nearly a decade ago, has given Jemena an unprecedented amount of data that it stores in on-premises data warehouse. While Jemena’s data warehouse meets their reporting and regulatory requirements, it lacks the flexibility and agility to enable them respond nimbly to market forces.
