Thomas Grünwald

Thomas Grünwald joined Deloitte in February 2012 in the Audit department where he is currently working as external auditor for Banks, PSF & Investment Funds.

Thomas has built expertise in the external audit of banks and other professional entities of the financial sector. He has a broad experience in conducting audits according to local Gaap and IFRS.

His experience includes audits and reviews on legal and regulatory requirements as issued by the ECB and the national authorities; as well as audits of all various departments, activities and processes of the bank, including treasury activities (standard and non-standard products), private banking and credit activities (ranging from private customer loans to large corporate loans and trade finance loans).

Thomas has held external presentations for the banking sector in Luxembourg on topics Basel II/III, implementing CRDIV/CRR and has published articles on the topics Comprehensive Assessment, SSM, SRM and SDGS.

Since 2015, Thomas sits at the Banking Union Center in Frankfurt (BUCF) where he is actively involved in discussing matters and issues for the Single Supervisory Mechanism and the Single Resolution Mechanism.

From 2010 to 2012, Thomas conducted a secondment in London. Besides various audit engagements he also conducted work on non-audit clients, auditing special reporting requirements according to UK law (FSA regulation audit) including special process audit of liquidity reporting requirements (section 166 reports).

In addition, Thomas has also experience in audits of special requirements for banks according to legal/regulatory requirements, i.e ICAAP/Basel II/Basel III and FINREP. In 2014 Thomas conducted one Asset Quality Review at a banking client in Luxembourg and issued articles on the topic Banking Union and Asset Quality Review.

Thomas is a fully qualified member of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) as well as a certified CMA of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
