Twenty-two partners gathered at the Sven Nys Cycling Center for the ultimate training ride before the real thing next month. With a blue sky and many smiling faces at the start, the circumstances were ideal for a training ride that was designed by Frederik, Joris and Dirk to prepare us for the “average” daily ride every day for a week next month: 130 km and +1,000 hm.

Our friends at Kortweg made sure that everyone who was riding an e-bike got comfortable with their bikes, and some even had to assemble their bikes as they insisted on driving cars with a trunk the size of a shopping trolley.
During the ride, Dirk made the enthusiastic cyclists leading the way hold their horses, Joris did an excellent job as ‘wind stopper’, and Frederik kept us safe blowing his whistle at the front of the peloton.
After 75 km, we stopped at Horst Castle (you know, home to ‘De Rode Ridder’) for a short lunch and/or a bio break, after which we continued on our winding road back to Sven Nijs’ Balen, riding alongside the Demer.

We were promised “an enjoyable but also very challenging ride in the beautiful Hageland area” and that is exactly what we got. Great appetiser for the main course that will be served next month. Looking forward to it!
