Hero of the day
Jürgen Foré! He was the one who was able to fix the first minor technical hiccup. He repaired Anne Tilleux’s derailleur in a jiffy. We were back on the road within five minutes. So, our Hero of the Day is Formidastic Foréke.
Trivia of the day
Apart from the Disney castles, we passed another quite impressive castle: le Château de Fontainebleau, located 55 kilometres south-east of the centre of Paris. It is one of the largest French royal châteaux. Louis XIV, Marie-Antoinette, Napoleon,… they all lived there.
And today, we took our second group photo in front of the Château. Another highlight in the rich history of Fontainebleau.

Story of the day
It was a fantastic sight to find our shining bikes all brushed and cleaned up at the start. We were told that the state of the bikes before the big cleaning exercise “met some expectations.” Well, at the start, it was more like “substantially exceeding expectations.” Thanks, Team Kortweg.
A few partners went to the bike doctor before the trip to make sure their bikes are in perfect condition. Some also installed new brake pads, resulting in sounds comparable with a mist horn or a cow in labour. At least we now know when Rolf Driesen arrives.
