Young Belgian technology companies make their mark
Deloitte Belgium announced the names of the fifty technology companies that have been nominated for the 2015 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 competition, the second fully Belgian edition of the competition.
Brussels, 19 October, 2015 – Deloitte Belgium today announces the names of the fifty technology companies that have been nominated for the 2015 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 competition, the second fully Belgian edition of the competition. The Technology Fast 50 award will be given to the country’s fastest-growing technology company, based on its percentage of growth in turnover during the last four years, at the award ceremony which will be held on 18 November, 2015 in Brussels.
Public or private companies headquartered in Belgium who develop a technology-related product or service and who have experienced substantial revenue growth over the last four years, were invited to register for the competition between 19 May and 30 September for their chance to be nominated as one of the country’s 50 fastest-growing technology companies. “The companies that have registered this year seem to be more mature at the start of the growth competition compared to the previous year. In this edition the average turnover of the companies was 6.6 million in the first year of the growth calculation (2011) compared to 2,9 million in last year edition. We can conclude that companies in this competition had built a larger market share at the start and have been able, over a period of 4 years, to realise sustainable growth towards an average of 16 million.” explains Vincent Fosty, Partner and TMT Industry Leader.
Supplementary award categories
As in 2014, in addition to an award for the fastest grower, awards will also be presented for Most Sustainable Growth (selected from the 2015 Fast 50 contestants and Fast 50 Alumni) and one winner will be selected from each of the following categories:
1. IT & Digital Solutions
2. Green Tech & Energy
3. Biotech & Medical Technology
4. Internet, Media & Telecom
Rising Star and Disruptive Innovator nominees
Companies that have been active in the technology sector for less than five years are put in the spotlight in the Rising Star category. On 29 October all Rising Star applicants will make a pitch for an internal Deloitte jury at Deloitte Diegem. The ten most inspiring companies are invited to pitch again on 18 November. The winner is selected based on the short pitch-presentation made by each company to an independent jury just prior to the
Fast 50 award ceremony. This year, the jury is presided by Duco Sickinghe, CEO Fortino and Former CEO Telenet, and includes distinguished members from the business community.
The Most Disruptive Innovator award is presented to the Rising Star nominee that has developed the most revolutionary concept or product within a specific technology segment.
Nikolaas Tahon, Managing Partner Accountancy: “This is the second edition of the Fast 50 competition solely for technology companies headquartered in Belgium, and the response has been great yet again. We’ve seen 31 new companies pop up on our nominees list, compared to last year. It’s exciting to see that there are so many entrepreneurs with bright ideas and plenty of drive in our country. Deloitte Belgium looks forward to continuing to promote innovation, both within our firm and externally, and to putting the spotlight on the achievements of all of the Belgian Fast 50 nomineess"
The 2015 Belgian Deloitte Technology Fast 50 competition is being organised in partnership with ING, Euronext, Fortino and De Standaard.
