Meet Piet Vandendriessche

CEO Deloitte Belgium

Piet Vandendriessche (°1965) became Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Belgium in June 2016. In that capacity, Piet leads and manages the Executive Committee and charts the organisation’s strategic direction. He is also a member of the Deloitte North South European Executive.

Piet believes strongly in the impact Deloitte can create for its clients and talent, and for society as a whole. Our strategic professionals stay abreast of the changes shaping our world and bring innovative and sustainable solutions to our clients. Similarly, through the Deloitte Foundation the firm supports a wide range of social projects in Belgium and abroad. These focus on education, innovation and entrepreneurship – areas that make the best use of our skills.

In a long career at Deloitte with many opportunities to grow, Piet attaches great importance to maintaining a transparent, dynamic environment that provides people with plenty of room for personal and professional advancement. He began at Arthur Andersen in 1988, where he became a partner specialising in international taxation with a strong focus on VAT and customs. There, he advised and supported many customers with the complex process of VAT compliance in Belgium and elsewhere in Europe. Following the integration with Andersen, Piet joined Deloitte in 2002.

Before becoming CEO, Piet was a Managing Partner of Deloitte Tax & Legal Belgium – a practice that has grown to 60 partners and 900 employees. He was Indirect Tax Partner, and also served for five years as Deloitte Global Managing Director, Indirect Tax. In addition, from April 2013 to December 2015 he had the post of EMEA Regional Tax and Legal Managing Director.

Since 2014 he has been a permanent lecturer on “Taxation of International Transactions” at the Catholic University of Keuven (KUL). He is a member of the board of directors of Voka.

Piet holds a degree in law from the KUL and an additional specialised degree in tax law from the Fiscale Hogeschool in Brussels. From the West Flemish town of Ardooie, Piet is married and has three daughters. In addition to his native Dutch, he is fluent in French and English.

A passionate cyclist and runner, Piet is also an ambassador for Energise@Deloitte. This firm-wide programme encourages employees to optimise their health and well-being through a variety of fun and challenging activities.
