It was at the very last minute that we formed a team and decided to participate. Far away of thinking that, at the end of the road, we would win a trip to New York ! What was particular with this case competition is that we were put in the shoes of a board of directors and had to make decisions accross all divisions of the company during serveral periods. The overall view of a company and the elaboration of a strategy of which we were able to see the results period after period was something unique. But what excited us the most was to present our decision and business plan in front of an investors’ panel during the final pitch. I would strongly recommend this challenge to everyone willing to put in practice his business sense, analytical and presentation skills and win an unforgettable prize!

So, whether you want to feel the NYC vide, go to a NBA game, be on top of the empire state building or in the footsteps of many movie scenes don’t wait to make your team and give it a try.

The Entrepreneurship Challenge at Deloitte is a wonderful experience which allows you to put into practice everything you’ve learned so far. As the name says it’s challenging because you have to cover all the areas of a business but, don’t worry, with a good team you’ll get through and learn a lot! Also you’ll see that even if your analytical skills are important it is not all about the numbers. You’ll need to be able to explain what you did, why you did it, and convince real managers that you made the right moves. Further you’ll have to prove that you have thought about the next step; in fact, running a company is always about thinking forward. Moreover this business game is also a good opportunity to talk to people, get insights about the business and finally have fun with your team! And who knows, maybe you’ll be the next ones flying to NYC and have your own bite at the Big Apple! So have fun and as we used to say last year… “RideOn to the next level!” ;)

Taking part to the Deloitte Fiduciaire Entrepreneurship Challenge was a very exciting experience: met people from different horizons, we took our decisions and finally as a reward we flew to New-York. Actually I will keep good memories of this trip and especially one that I want to share with you. During our visit of the MoMA, one of my colleagues (Jamy) and I discovered a very big and intriguing structure which looks like… Indeed, we never find out what it was but while we were looking at it, another colleague came in the room and asks us what we were looking at. Camped to be unable to answer, we hesitate to reveal him our shameful ignorance of the modern art and we finally get THE brainstorm. We look at him with our most conceited look and we said that the meaning of the structure was accessible to those who know how to look it. Intrigued in turn, our colleague started to try different points of view to find the meaning of our words. After 10 min of research we find him on his knees looking at the statue. The situation was quite funny but it was not a peak of the joke. We told him that he finally found the good level to glimpse the solution but it could never figure out the solution without moving. So our friend started to walk on all fours forgetting that he was in a crowed place.

Even if I have already participated to other renowned business game, I subscribed to the Deloitte Entrepreneurship challenge and I have to say that it was a great idea and an amazing experience. The challenge was really interesting and the prize amazing, thus, with a group of friends, I started the adventure. The first rounds were really interesting and learned me a lot. Indeed they give you the chance to show your talents (financial for me) and to work together with other people with different backgrounds in order to run your company. I will always remember the different arguments we had to take some decision and the stress surrounding the effect of our decision on the global ranking while the computer was running the results. Even if you do not have the chance to go to the last round it is definitely worth the trouble (and I do not speak about the meeting with Deloitte’s employee around a drink afterward). Then, if you go to the final day, you will enjoy a wonderful day stirring together stress and relaxation. And about the New-York trip? Just Amazing… You will discover a new city by walking, visiting museum and famous monuments and of course partying in the so called: the city who never sleeps. So friend, just a tip: make the Deloitte Entrepreneurship Challenge and have fun otherwise you will regret it.

Vele groetjes, Deborah (team Qual-IT)

Veel succes, groetjes Tom Coussement (team Qual-IT)
