Belgian Impact Report

Foreword from our CEO

Welcome to the Deloitte Belgium 2018 Impact Report. Our annual report is a collection of stories that illustrates our achievements in FY2018, and describes the many ways we make an enduring impact that matters for our clients, our people, and our society.

Working for a better world

These impactful stories represent Deloitte’s responsibility to take the lead and inspire people to work for a better world. Sustainable development is a recurring theme throughout this report because we know that business plays a crucial role in building a better society and making an impact that matters. Sustainability aligns our firm’s strategy to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework, which prioritises 17 goals to achieve a more sustainable future by 2030.

Established in 2015, the SDGs are a social and economic initiative that engage many different organisations around the globe, from governments to NGOs to businesses. Deloitte Belgium is no exception. We are proud to respond to this universal call to action by focusing on the following ten SDGs: Good Health and Well-Being; Quality Education; Gender Equality; Affordable and Clean Energy; Decent Work and Economic Growth; Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure; Sustainable Cities and Communities; Responsible Consumption and Production; Climate Action; and Partnerships for the Goals.

Delivering quality service for our clients

We contribute to the success of our clients by providing innovative, high quality services to young start-ups, traditional family companies, and enterprises of different sizes from local firms to leading multinationals. The work we do covers a variety of industries, including digital, financial services, and manufacturing.

Our sustainable approach to doing business has also resulted in improving our sustainable procurement policies. For example, we obtained a gold-level certification from EcoVadis, a platform providing sustainability ratings for global supply chains. Deloitte Belgium is in the top 3% of companies assessed by EcoVadis in the legal and accounting category.

Our simply irresistible organisation

With over 4,000 Deloitte professionals, our firm is dedicated to continue investing in our talent. Our new performance management experience, SPARK, is based on quality conversations and feedback, designed to help guide our people to stay fulfilled throughout their careers. Furthermore, recognition initiatives such as the North West Europe Impact Awards celebrate the impacts our people make. Equally important are our diversity initiatives that encourage inclusive representation across the firm. One of our targets is to increase our female partner representation by 30% by 2030.

With the launch of our Mobility@Deloitte programme, we announced our goal to make Deloitte Belgium fully CO2 neutral by 2021. To help us achieve this, we are taking a pioneering stance on mobility by offering a wide range of mobility options that our people can further customise to fit their needs along with reducing our carbon footprint.

Purpose-driven approach to helping society

The Deloitte Foundation brings together all of our firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. Focusing on education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, the CSR projects reflect our learning culture and make the best use of our skills. This report highlights some of our local and global activities that make a positive impact on society, each one aligned with SDGs addressing education, economic growth, and collaborating for sustainable development.

These strategic initiatives are leading our firm in the right direction to make a sustainable impact on how we work. Forward thinking has always kept us one step ahead, and we relentlessly aim to deliver on our Purpose for our clients, our people, and our society. We can make an impact, together.
