Purpose matters. It’s the reason why we exist, after all. Our Shared Values align to our Purpose and guide our collective behaviours, uniting us with one common objective: to make an impact that matters. Our Shared Values (lead the way, serve with integrity, take care of each other, foster inclusion, collaborate for impact) bind us together and serve as the basis for the decisions we make and the actions we take.
As a Purpose-led organisation, we aim to make a positive impact on our people, our clients and society through our core business, as well as our Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability initiatives.
You can see the impact of our Purpose in the investment we make in our people, our greatest asset, by providing an exceptional career experience and collaborative culture.
You can see the impact of our Purpose in our organisation’s philanthropic arm, the Deloitte Foundation, and the work we do to make our communities a better place, including our vast sustainability ambitions.
And you can see it in our client work, like the innovative solutions we offer to help our clients navigate the challenges of a post-pandemic world.
In short, our Purpose is the driving force behind our work.
Since FY18, we’ve positively impacted more than 275,000 lives through initiatives and activities that put people first.
We aim to maximize our impact further, doubling our original WorldClass ambitions by 2030 from 350,000 to making an impact on 750,000 lives. So far, we’re making great progress to meet this goal, having made an impact on 90,000 lives during our 2021 fiscal year alone.
To strengthen our Purpose programme, we have invested more than €1.4 million in support of initiatives, philanthropic events, and Purpose transformation projects that took place over the course of the 2021 fiscal year.
To make real change happen in our communities, our Deloitte Foundation has intensified its collaborations with seven organisations over the last year.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2021 we secured support for our initiatives largely through monetary donations that totaled more than €388,000. In a second phase, we reinvented our programmes and have deliberately opted for ‘hours over cash’ measurements that drive employee engagement and prioritise contributions of our skills and expertise. We’re proud to have donated more than 5,500 volunteering hours, a growth of 60% over the previous fiscal year.
"Every day we challenge ourselves to do what matters most—for clients, for our talent and for society. It is not only a statement in our communication, it’s about amplifying our impact by embedding Purpose in everything we do."
Hilde Van de Velde, Chief Purpose Officer
