Deloitte is conducting a study for the European Commission on how Data Analytics and Big Data can contribute to policy processes at different stages and in different domains.
Data Analytics and Big Data for Policy
Data analytics and Big Data are at the same time a big challenge and a big opportunity for policy makers. As the former Commissioner for Digital Agenda clearly stated: “Big Data can serve the needs of every European, and generate new opportunities for everybody”.
This study analyses how data analytics and Big Data can concretely contribute to policy processes at different stages and in different domains. The team has collected over a hundred case studies from all around Europe illustrating the potential and challenges linked to the use of data analytics in the public sector. These case studies also cover a wide range of different applications and policy domains. The team has assessed, through selected cases, the benefits, risks, best practices, lessons learnt using these new technologies in the public sector. Finally, the study will capture the needs for further initiaves for the use of Data Analytics and Big Data in the public sector.
