EPRA Annual Report Survey 2015/16

We are pleased to present you the European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA) Annual Reports Survey 2015/16 conducted by Deloitte. This survey comprises a review of 117 Annual Reports from leading listed real estate companies across 15 countries in Europe to assess compliance with EPRA’s Best Practices Recommendations (BPR) for annual financial reporting.

The importance of the EPRA BPR in raising the standard and consistency of performance reporting is widely acknowledged with companies now totaling 81 % of the FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Europe market capitalization achieving a Bronze, Silver or Gold award. Implementation of EPRA’s Best Practices Recommendations has again gained momentum with 46 listed real estate companies achieving Gold against 33 last year.

Belgium leads the way in Europe

The Belgian SIR-GVVs outperform the industry in Europe with all 8 Belgian companies surveyed achieving a Gold award,  Belgium becoming the first and only country with a 100 % highest achievement recognition, and representing close to 20 % of that REIT’s  premier league group.

Wereldhave Belgium and Retail Estates achieve best in class status for the first time in 2016 and join the prime group made up of Cofinimmo, Befimmo, Leasinvest Real Estate, Warehouses De Pauw and Intervest Offices & Warehouses.

With a 100 % highest award winning coverage, the Belgian public real estate sector is clearly championing the quality of annual financial reporting by European listed property companies. It has also been recognized  by the  recent GPR 250 Europe Index as the REIT country in Europe with the highest financial return in 2016.
