Due to the shutdown of a number of nuclear power plants recently, Belgium has lost at least half of its nuclear power capacity.

If confronted with severe winter times and a high demand for electricity, will we indeed have to face power shortage?

Due to an unforeseen shutdown of the power plants of Tihange 2, Doel 3 and Doel 4, the risk of an electricity blackout in Belgium has become a reality. To minimize the impact for the entire country, a switch-off plan (afschakelplan / plan de délestage) has been put in place which divides Belgium into 6 switch-off zones.
