VacciVault: Turning the vaccine booklet into a digital blockchain platform
Blockchaingers Hackathon – Groningen April 2018
The Blockchaingers Hackathon is without exaggeration the largest physical blockchain hackathon in the world with over 700 participants. Organised by DutchChain in Groningen, the second edition of the hackathon brought together a complete ecosystem, with official support from the Dutch government and regulators, which served as a launch pad for exponential blockchain solutions.
Meeting global challenges
The objective of the hackathon was to deliver a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), a first prototype solution focusing on one of seven tracks, at the end of the three-day event. Sixty-three teams co-created prototype solutions for global challenges with their future clients.
Deloitte, one of the event partners, was present with five teams and also acted an advisor to the teams during the event. The Deloitte team that competed in the health care track won third prize for its solution. Their product, VacciVault, consisted in digitalising the vaccine booklet and putting it into a blockchain network giving the patient the possibility to control their medical records, and share them anytime by also being GDPR compliant.
