The Future of Work
The future of work is currently one of the biggest challenges facing governments and policy makers. Demographics, coupled with the accelerating use of robotics, cognitive technologies, and artificial intelligence is changing how, when, where and by whom work is being done.
Inclusive growth is a government priority, and focused attention is needed to enable citizens to continue to participate in the workforce. Sustaining a stable, just, and productive society will require the reinvention of many existing systems and institutions, and realigning them to businesses and workers. Individuals will have to continually reinvent themselves, employers will need to negotiate shifting societal and regulatory expectations around the employer-worker contracts, and build more inclusive workforces. Policy makers will have to develop new ways of facilitating education, supporting new types of work and a more entrepreneurial economy, while providing social safety nets which can help keep citizens from being left behind.
