2018 Q3 - CFO Survey

Sentiment turnes, CFOs remain focused on growth

Belgian CFO optimism has turned negative in the third quarter, while other business sentiment indicators have remained stable or even improved. Although CFOs are on average less optimistic about the financial prospects of their businesses as they were in the second quarter, the mood swing has not yet restrained growth ambitions: CAPEX projections over the next 12 months reached a new high and the vast majority of survey participants plan to further increase headcount as well. But the ambitious growth might be hard to achieve as 3 out of 4 CFOs report having difficulties finding the necessary skills – technical skills being particularly hard to find. A similar picture emerges from the results of the Deloitte European CFO survey: most countries report reductions in optimism, while investment indicators remain strong.
