Roundtable: Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP) and Supervisory Stress Testing 2019

Deloitte Bulgaria is delighted to invite you to Banking Risk and Regulatory Roundtable, organized on April 19th at 9.30 am at Deloitte premises, 103, Al. Stambolijski Blvd, Sofia Tower (Mall of Sofia), Sofia.

About the event

Our event aims to provide an overview of the components of the EU Single supervisory framework, including changes and clarifications being recently introduced. Participants will gain insights into the way how ECB and National Supervisory authorities apply SREP components in practice, focusing on main aspects of business model analysis, assessment of internal governance as well as assessment of capital, liquidity and funding adequacy and determination of additional capital and liquidity requirements.
A critical factor in the SREP approach would be the results of supervisory stress testing. EU-wide stress test methodology is published in 2018 and is designed to serve as a common ground on which competent authorities base their assessment.

The 2019 stress test exercise is currently run as part of the ECB Comprehensive Assessment for six Bulgarian banks. The exercise is carried out in the context of Bulgaria’s request to establish close cooperation with the ECB. The asset quality review aims to assess the adequate valuation of balance sheet exposures, while the stress test aims to assess the resilience of banks to a stressed macroeconomic scenario, including an economic downturn. We will outline how the results of 2019 stress tests will be reflected in the ECB Comprehensive Assessment.
