About the event

Deloitte Bulgaria is delighted to invite you to our second Banking Risk and Regulatory Round Table, which will be held on 29 October, 9.30 a.m. at Deloitte premises (103, Al. Stambolijski Blvd, Sofia Tower (Mall of Sofia), Sofia).

On 16 April the European Parliament formally ratified the European Union’s Risk Reduction Measures (RRM) package on bank capital and liquidity, constituting a major milestone on the way for the finalisation of one of the most significant pieces of EU-level banking regulations. The RRM is a combination of the EU’s fifth Capital Requirements Directive (CRD5), the second Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR2) and the second Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD2). Those acts are formally transforming the developments in the Basel III standards of Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) (referred to by some as Basel IV) into legislation.

While this is undoubtedly an important step in the EU’s adoption of post-crisis standards on bank capital and liquidity, it is far from the end of the line. Several more years of secondary rulemaking lie ahead before the RRM can be fully implemented, and EU-level work is already underway to propose legislation to implement the remaining elements of Basel IV.

The European financial services industry will face considerable strategic challenges, making both banks and supervisors adapt to the regulatory changes at a rapid pace and on an unprecedented scale.

The aim of this event is to examine the environment in which banks are operating and discuss the impact of the new regulatory initiatives.
