Requirements for the restructuring of credit institutions in relation to recent changes in European legislation (webinar)

22 April 2021

On 12 February 2021, the amendments to the Law on the Recovery and Resolution of Credit Institutions and Investment Firms were published, transposing in the Bulgarian legislation the requirements of Directive (EU) 2019/879 of the EP and of the Council, part of the so-called "Banking Package".

The new requirements cover changes to the setting of the minimum requirement for own funds and bail-in, new provisions on eligible liabilities, strengthening the powers of the resolution authority, etc. In addition to the legal changes, attention is paid to the practical consequences of Bulgaria's accession to the SRM, the document "Expectation for Banks"/, published by the Single Resolution Board in 2019, as well as other important highlights of the restructuring framework.
