Life at Deloitte

Perspectives from our people

"I'd encourage anyone considering working abroad to just go for it –you won't regret it!"

Audit Senior Anna Masters tells us why she joined Deloitte in Bermuda

Anna takes a moment to share her experiences and perspectives

Why did you decide to go apply to an opportunity to work abroad?

After qualifying with Deloitte UK I was ready for a new challenge and wanted to experience another culture.

Why did you choose Bermuda?

Bermuda offers a real work-life balance between gaining financial services experience and enjoying an active outdoor lifestyle. There are so many sports to try and I can go to the beach every weekend.

What attracted you to join Deloitte?

I decided to stay within Deloitte as I wanted to take advantage of the Deloitte network and international mobility opportunities.

How did you find the transition and support provided?

The whole process was very easy! The Talent team was always available to answer questions and organised the work permit, flights and 2 weeks accommodation on arrival. During the first week we were given lots of information about the island and Deloitte in Bermuda. We also had department specific training, which was useful as I had no previous Financial Services experience.

What is the work like in Bermuda?

Working with the Funds team in the Audit & Assurance practice, I am mainly based in the office and work on a variety of small and large audits. Hours can be long during busy season but the office is a fun and friendly place with lots of social events.

What are the main differences between working in your home office and Bermuda?

My commute is a 15-minute scooter ride which is a huge improvement! There are more office social events such as drinks every Friday, sports teams, office-wide golf day and too many more to list.

Describe what it is like living in Bermuda so far?

Bermuda is a really friendly place with lots of young expats. This makes it very sociable and easy to make friends. There are loads of sports teams and activities such as sailing and scuba diving. It's also only 2 hours flight from New York, which is great for travelling.

Favourite moment to date?

Going whale watching one weekend and seeing 10 migrating humpback whales.

Worst moment to date?

Anytime it rains when I’m riding my scooter!
