I-Ready programme reaches a milestone with Deloitte Southeast Asia

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 30 April 2018 - The i-Ready Apprenticeship programme under the Manpower Policy and Planning Unit (MPPU), Energy and Industry Department (EID) reached a milestone when seven graduates were selected to start their career abroad with Deloitte in the consulting practice.

The collaboration was officiated during a contract signing ceremony between the Energy and Industry Department, Deloitte Southeast Asia and the graduates at JobCentre Brunei, Beribi, recently.

This is the first international placement in collaboration with Deloitte Southeast Asia.

The graduates were chosen through a rigorous selection process under the i-Ready Apprenticeship programme out of 586 applicants.

Present were Haji Kamaludin bin Haji Bungsu, Permanent Secretary (Manpower and SHENA) at the Energy and Industry Department as well as key representatives from MPPU and Deloitte Southeast Asia. The apprentices, under the i-Ready Apprenticeship Programme at Deloitte, will focus on primary and secondary research consulting work and will be involved in data analyses and complex business challenges.

With Deloitte being one unified firm across Southeast Asia and a presence in all ASEAN countries and Guam, employees will also have the opportunity to work in the different Deloitte offices across the region.

This exposure will help acquire knowledge and experience in the field of consultancy that they will apply in their work across a wide range of business services within Deloitte Southeast Asia’s Consulting practice.

Lee Chew Chiat, Consulting Leader of Deloitte Brunei said, “We support the Brunei Government’s initiatives to enhance the employability of new Brunei graduates and help them be future-ready by strengthening their knowledge in the areas of consultant.

“Hiring Bruneian graduates will help groom the next generation of talent to bring Brunei forward into the future. We recognised that Brunei has a talented pool of graduates, and we look forward to continue our support that will include holding more recruitment drives, and work closely with the MPPU to identify opportunities for more Bruneians to be part of our Deloitte Southeast Asia consulting team,” he added.
