Celebrating excellence... and inspiring future accountants
Announcing the Accounting Student Award (ASA) recipients for 2017
On August 16th 2017, Deloitte & Touche in The Bahamas proudly issued awards to the selected top three Accounting Students in Nassau through its Accounting Student Award (ASA) program.
Our ASA program has supported many young Bahamians in assisting them in obtaining their career goals of becoming accountants. The ASA granted monetary contribution towards first semester’s tuition, books and enables the recipients to gain valuable real world experience during the summer breaks. Awardees were selected following an extensive application process which included an essay submission and interview.
This year’s award recipients were:
- Tenaj Pinder of Queens College,
- Rhema Nottage of St. Andrews School and
- Derica Ferguson of St. Anne’s High School
Each recipient will be travelling to colleges and universities in the coming weeks to pursue Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting.
Tenaj, Rhema and Derica, supported by their parents and family, were greeted by Raymond Winder, Managing Partner, Lawrence Lewis, Audit & Assurance Partner, Talia Sweeting-Albury, Audit & Assurance Director, and Jacquelyn Beneby, Talent Advisor.
During the award presentation, Mr. Winder encouraged the students to remain focused and to make the most out of their college experience. He advised that the road ahead may seem difficult as they branch out on their own, but reinforced the need to keep their goals in sight and not get distracted.
As a part of their award, the three recipients will be given the opportunity to work at Deloitte & Touche in The Bahamas during their summer break to gain experience in the professional services arena and, upon completion of tertiary education are eligible to join Deloitte - one of the largest global professional services firms.
