The M&A Academy is an invite-only, flagship event that brings together cross-industry leaders, from both private and public sectors, to connect and experience thought-provoking and interactive panels featuring prominent Canadian and international corporate leaders, financial investors, and M&A executives.

Since our inaugural event in 2019, the M&A Academy has included keynotes and panels from executives at Brookfield, Torys, Lululemon, Fengate, WestJet, MLSE, and others.

Recent academies

At the second annual M&A Academy, Reshaping the future: Creating a bolder path for M&A, Deloitte leaders and top industry executives took attendees through a series of interactive virtual sessions, focusing on defensive and offensive M&A strategies and providing strategic insights and tactical advice.

Highlights of the event included:

  • A fireside chat with Stephen Poloz, the ninth governor of the Bank of Canada, Canada’s central bank.
  • Timothy Leiweke, Founder and CEO of Oak View Group, and Francesca Bodie, President of Business Development at Oak View Group explored charting new horizons and discussed how to survive and thrive through volatility, in business and in sports, from investing in promising startups to launching new companies.
  • Dayna Spiring, President and CEO of Economic Development Winnipeg Inc., discussed future-proofing tips including how to maximize your company's value for a potential sale and manage through an exit.

In 2019, Deloitte Canada hosted its inaugural M&A Academy, entitled Opportunities in a time of change.

The M&A Institute

Mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures are among the most challenging and complex events a company will experience.
