Based on our experience in helping family enterprises around the world, Deloitte’s Family Enterprise Consulting offers a tried- and-true methodology that helps you align your family team so that each member understands and acknowledges their roles, responsibilities, the purpose of their wealth, and their vision for the future.
Each family approaches the work differently. We have tailored our approach to fit each family’s unique circumstances, skills, dynamics and needs, in a family enterprise context; whether managing governance, day-to-day operations, the family foundation or family office. We recognize the critical importance of balancing and integrating feelings with facts, relationships with business priorities, and ownership with management.
Our process consists of three phases. Phase 1 is a discovery phase to formalize and document our understanding of the current issues, opportunities, and aspirations. We then tailor phases 2 and 3, according to the family’s needs, challenges, and stated goals.
Our team philosophy
We engage with the whole family and see the family group as our client.
We establish close working relationships with the family group through an in-depth understanding of individual family members and their needs, concerns, and ambitions.
We recognize the critical importance of balancing and integrating feelings with facts, relationships with business priorities, and ownership with management in family enterprises.
We understand the importance of an inclusive, shared vision for the family and the business as the foundation for effective governance and achievement of business goals.
We emphasize practice rather than theory, and work with our clients to provide practical solutions.
We are mindful of the key role of the next generation in the longevity of the family enterprise and seek to include their aspirations.
We have learned to expect the unexpected; with a multi- disciplinary and flexible approach, we are able to tailor and adjust our work to take people into account as they evolve.
We want our clients to be self-sufficient, so we work in partnership with them to transfer our knowledge and experience so that they can function effectively without us in the long-term.
