Life at Deloitte
Rachelle Frisby, Bermuda
"Being able to make friends with and learn the cultures of colleagues who come from all around the world is an amazing experience."
Partner, Financial Advisory
What do you like most about your role?
I never know what each day will bring. One week I could be working on the solvent liquidation of a shell company with minimal assets and liabilities, and the next few weeks I could be determining the sources and uses of funds totaling hundreds of millions of dollars.
What attracted you to Deloitte?
I was attracted to a Big Four firm (at the time I joined a Big Five) with the ability for international experience and transfers, which made an internal move to Bermuda possible. The Vancouver office, which I first joined, pushed a work/life balance, which I continue to enjoy on the island.
Describe your day to day role
Working in the Financial Advisory department starts with understanding the needs and wants of the stakeholders. We work closely with lenders, shareholders, creditors, and other interested parties by providing alternatives to restructure a business. Networking and creating and maintaining business relationships is vital.
What else have your been involved with since joining Deloitte?
Social Committee Chair, Philanthropic Committee Chair, Impact Day organizer, Green Committee member, and summer internship organizer - I think I have been involved with most of the committees since joining the firm!
What is Deloitte’s role in your longer term career goals?
I joined the firm immediately upon graduating from university, and have not left as I enjoy my work and my colleagues. I would like to lead the Financial Advisory practice in the long term, working with people who wish to add value to our clients.
What have you enjoyed most?
Providing solutions to clients that may be going through a potentially difficult period of their business and making friends with colleagues who come from all around the world.
