Cindy's Deloitte experience

What is it that has kept you with Deloitte and growing in your career?

Over the years, Deloitte has been a great place to work and I have developed a loyalty to this firm. The partners that awarded me the scholarship were always very supportive of my career aspirations.

People often describe Deloitte as a unique place to work. What do you believe makes Deloitte distinctive in the marketplace?

The people who work for Deloitte, our commitment to each other and to always providing opportunities to grow and improve make Deloitte in the Cayman Islands a great place to work. Further, the diversity and culture in our office makes it a very interesting place to be.

What do you get involved in on a day to day basis at work?

My role is to review financial statements of alternative investment funds that are registered with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority under the Mutual Funds Law of the Cayman Islands so during the busy season I read a lot! In addition, I have a few small direct audits sprinkled throughout the year. I am also involved in the firm's Human Resources function and assist the team in various areas such as recruitment and learning.

What social, society and/or Corporate Social Responsibility activities have you been involved in with Deloitte?

I chair the firm-wide social committee which organizes a host of events for staff throughout the year - we coordinate the Beach Day, Impact Day and Christmas Party which occur annually. On IMPACT Day, I make it a point to head out into the community to make a difference to an organization that needs our help. Through Deloitte I am also involved with Hedge Funds Care Cayman, a charity that raises funds to donate to organizations/agencies that focus on the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect.

In your role, where to you believe that you've been able to deliver the most value and make an impact that matters?

I believe that as a partner at Deloitte I have provided our students with inspiration and encouragement to want to be with the firm long term. I have shown that loyalty and commitment are key to a successful career.
