Deloitte has been providing EU regulatory and advisory services for years. The newly established EU Law and State Aid Center of Excellence (CoE) is an initiative lead by Deloitte Central Europe. The Center will build on Deloitte’s existing capabilities and multidisciplinary offering to assist clients in state aid and EU legal matters throughout the Deloitte network and will be an important part of the services related to incentives provided by Deloitte’s Global Investment and Innovation Incentives (Gi3) Team.

Kai and Katarzyna will be physically located in Brussels.

He advises and litigates on a broad range of questions of EU law, with a focus on competition and state aid, and is recognised by Who's Who Legal in its Global Elite ranking as a thought leader for Competition - state aid. Kai joins Deloitte Legal from global law firm White & Case where he was a partner in the EU practice of the firm’s Brussels office . Prior to that, he worked at the European Commission's Directorate General for Competition where he was responsible for the enforcement of state aid policy.

I am delighted to join Deloitte Legal and take on the leadership of the EU Law and State Aid CoE. In today’s fast-paced business environment clients are facing complex challenges that require input from specialists from diverse business disciplines. I am looking forward to drawing on the strength of the Deloitte network to provide clients with integrated tailored advisory services including the perspective of EU and state aid law.

- said Kai Struckmann.

The team is further reinforced with the addition of Katarzyna Berestecka, who joins as a senior managing associate at the beginning of April. I am pleased to welcome Kai and Katarzyna to the team. They have a wealth of experience between them in the area of EU and state aid law that perfectly complements our multidisciplinary advisory services and will enable our clients to adapt nimbly, manage risk and realize new opportunities with confidence.
