Introducing Deloitte KYC Credentials

Earlier this year, at Polkadot Decoded in Copenhagen – just two months after beginning our collaboration with KILT Protocol – we were able to announce the first use case with Polimec in which Deloitte Certificates can be used.

Our KYC Credentials service is now available. Order your Deloitte Certificate and access the first use case, Polimec (participate.polimec.org).

What are Deloitte KYC credentials?

Deloitte’s new KYC Credentials service provides reusable KYC Credentials that put you back in control of your personal data.

It enables you to establish a digital self-sovereign identity by validating your data once with Deloitte. After Deloitte has issued your KYC Credential, which is kept under your control, you will be able to use it with different online services, the first being Polimec. The provider of the website or service can rely on the shared data as it has been approved and certified by Deloitte – but you share only the minimum necessary data about yourself.

Our “KYC in a Wallet” service allows our clients to verify their data once with Deloitte and store it in their KYC Credentials in the Deloitte Wallet. This process makes the data reliable for all other parties. For example, if Deloitte verifies that you are above 18, you can pass this information when needed without any further details, such as your date of birth, while the service you wish to consume can rely on the provided information because it is already validated by Deloitte. With this approach, you are in complete control of your data. The verified information is stored in your Deloitte Wallet, which is only available on your computer and only accessible to you. Data from the Wallet is only shared with your prior approval. In addition, Deloitte KYC Credentials will provide access to a secure digital asset and Web3 ecosystem in which all participants are verified as being eligible to use the services.

Why do I need Deloitte KYC Credentials?

ID theft and fraud are a growing problem. With Deloitte KYC Credentials, you can demonstrate that you, and not anyone else, are accessing content, services, shops, etc., in the digital world, as only you can access the Deloitte Wallet and the verified information.

At present, you may be doing ID verifications repeatedly, and sharing all your ID data with different providers for accessing various services. With Deloitte KYC Credentials, this is no longer necessary as you can reuse your KYC Credential. This makes the electronic world as easy as the physical world – in which an ID card allows you to demonstrate specific facts about yourself (for example, that you are above 18), without leaving a significant data trail. In the digital world, the Deloitte KYC Credentials are the equivalent of your physical ID.
