Hevin Demir

Hevin is leading the Global Trade Advisory Practice at Deloitte Switzerland. She has a legal background (attorney at law) and has worked as a customs- and trade compliance specialist on both sides, in-house in the consumer goods industry and as a consultant for many years. She is specialized in customs process optimization and digitization, trade compliance as well as export controls, embargos and international sanctions. As part of her compliance work she further supports clients in meeting sustainability requirements and obligations from (international) standards on human rights protection along the supply chain.

As a lawyer, Hevin specialized in customs regulation, foreign trade law and trade compliance regulation and has longstanding experience in operationalizing these legal requirements into the business. Having worked in Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, she has broad knowledge of international, EU and Swiss customs and trade law. In several international projects, she gathered a deep understanding of customs and compliance processes within complex supply chain models and acted as an interface between operative business, strategic functions, legal and IT. In these projects, she assisted clients in gaining efficiencies and a higher level of compliance by developing an optimized trade target operating model, centralizing certain activities and finding the right balance between outsourced and inhouse tasks. Furthermore, she supported clients in leveraging innovative reporting and analytics solutions, detecting saving opportunities through supply chain simulations and implemented customs solutions based on artificial intelligence and robotics to solve customs related challenges such as, for example, product classification.
