Answering the call: Making infrastructure management more nimble and responsive in Buenos Aires

The Buenos Aires city government struggled to manage its public spaces - such as streets, sidewalks, garbage bins, and sewage systems - through its information systems. Unable to support operations across the government, these systems couldn’t even route service requests to the appropriate agencies for them to resolve. With help from Deloitte's member firms, the city government implemented a new IT platform that streamlined back-office tasks and improved coordination among departments. This resulted in faster response times and longrange preventive planning.

Bhopal turns to SAP software to automate public services

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is a critical services link for the city’s 1.8 million residents—issuing marriage certificates and serving as the governing body for civic functions. The corporation’s work extends to park and road management, infrastructure development, permitting, school-related activities, health services, water services, conservation, and tax collection. It’s a big basket of responsibilities for a big and bustling city. And it’s work that required automation and integration. Going deeper: IT transformation helps Grupo Bancolombia deliver a higher level of service to customers

Since 1998, Grupo Bancolombia S.A. has grown rapidly to become one of the largest financial conglomerates in Colombia and has also expanded regionally through mergers and acquisitions. But it grappled with a familiar problem: integrating its various legacy systems and applications. In turn, integration challenges made it even more difficult to effectively manage operations and transactions across its enterprise. As a result of its aggressive growth, the bank was not providing the high level of service it wanted for its retail customers. As part of Bancolombia’s IT platform transformation, Deloitte member firms collaborated with bank leaders to implement SAP® enterprise resource planning (ERP) and SAP customer relationship management (CRM) systems, helping the bank provide a higher level of customer service and become more agile in responding to customer needs.

Going deeper: Pacific Drilling positions itself for even greater business growth by implementing SAP® Business Suite powered by SAP HANA®

Since its founding in 2008, Houston-based Pacific Drilling has become a premier ultra-deepwater drilling contractor in the oil and natural gas industry. It has grown from zero to about 1,200 employees, and owns a fleet of technologically advanced drillships that operate in some of the most remote locations in the world. However, until recently the company wasn’t able to track performance at the desired level, and its SAP® ERP system was overdue for an upgrade. Making the connection - Snohomish Public Utility District transforms its HR systems for tomorrow’s workforce

Abstract: Snohomish County Public Utility District (Snohomish PUD) serves tens of thousands of electric and water customers in the state of Washington. But with 35 percent of its 1,100-person workforce eligible for retirement within the next five years, staffing challenges are intensifying. To help address the challenges, Snohomish PUD has been working to put in place cloud-based technology solutions that can meet the expectations of new workers as well as veteran employees. The new approach, which moves the organization toward a single system of record, relies on a set of technologies from SAP and SuccessFactors, an SAP company. Benefits include a self-service approach to HR information, allowing employees to manage their information efficiently and devote more time to core job activities. The new solution also helps centralize the management of HR data—from pre-hiring to retirement—and support reporting and compliance needs.

Rise and shine: “Project Freshstart” energizes distributor

As the exclusive supply chain management cooperative for more than 8,000 Dunkin’ Donuts stores, National DCP has a heavy load to shoulder. The cooperative stands as a $2 billion purchasing and distribution organization for quick-service restaurants nationwide—buying 100 million pounds of coffee, 112 million pounds of sugar, and 24 million gallons of milk per year. It took its current form in 2012, when several regional cooperatives came together as one entity—bringing with them legacy systems and integration challenges. To address those challenges, National DCP turned to an SAP®-centric solution that could help provide members with new services and unlock new internal capabilities.
