Your first step to making an impact
Step 1: Online application
Your first step is to complete your profile and application form through a mobile device or computer. This will take about 30 minutes and is your first chance to impress. You’ll be asked to provide us with details of your education, positions of responsibility and work experience, and career motivation.
Before you start
You’ll need a few documents before you begin your application. Make sure you have:
- A résumé written in English or Chinese to be uploaded in a doc, docx, xls, xlsx, pdf or txt format. A digital version of a passport-style photo is optional
- N.B. An English résumé is required for applicants of Hong Kong or Macau
- Digital versions of your academic transcripts (showing cumulative GPA), relevant certificates, reference letter and other qualifications and awards.
To start your application, you’ll have to register to use our online system. This means creating an account, setting a password and providing some basic personal information.
Take your time. You don’t have to complete your application in one go. Because you’ve created an account, you can save your progress and return to finish your application later. Just make sure you remember your user details and password.
We allow you to choose your preferred first and second choice positions and office locations during the application process. This way, you can be reallocated to the next best opening if your first choice is unavailable.
Once your choice is made, you won’t be able to change it. In most cases, you won’t be interviewed for multiple functions or offices, so think carefully before selecting your preferred roles.
Résumé and supporting documents
You will be asked to attach a copy of your English (for Hong Kong and Macau positions) and/or Chinese résumé to the online system. The system only accepts files in doc, docx, xls, xlsx, pdf, jpg or txt format, so please prepare your documents accordingly.
You will also need to submit an updated transcript copy (showing your cumulative GPA) as a pdf or jpg.
Step 2: Online tests
As part of your application, you’ll sit a series of online tests. These include a Cognitive Test, Psychometric Questionnaire, Cultural Fit Questionnaire and English Writing Task. We’ll invite you to take the tests once your application has been shortlisted. You may be invited to do a validation test at the later stage of the assessment.
The Cognitive Test includes a Verbal Reasoning Ability Test, a Numerical Reasoning Ability Test and a Logical Reasoning Ability Test.
- Verbal Reasoning Ability Test
We use this test to evaluate your ability to understand the logic of written arguments. To pass, you’ll need to quickly take in complex written information and draw accurate conclusions.
- Numerical Reasoning Ability Test
This test measures your ability to make correct decisions or inferences from numerical data. This sort of work is very closely linked to many of our roles, so it’s important that you do well.
- Logical Reasoning Ability Test
When we assess your logical reasoning, we’re looking at your ability to draw inferences from and understand relationships between various concepts. You’ll be asked to perform tasks that involve working out patterns. So you’ll be given a set of images and have to identify the next image in the sequence from the options provided.
There are no right or wrong answers to this test. We use it to predict how you might perform in a given role based on preferred behaviour, so it’s essential for you to be open and honest in your answers.
Cultural Fit Questionnaire
You will be asked to complete a questionnaire about your preferred work style.
If you encounter any technical issues with the online tests, please contact our Help Desk at email@example.com.
Step 3: Group assessment
Once you pass the online test, you’ll be invited to attend an assessment center. This includes a group discussion. If you're overseas and are unable to attend the assessment, we'll contact you separately to discuss alternative arrangements.
Step 4: Partner interview
If you impress us at the assessment center, you’ll be asked to do an interview with one of our Deloitte partners or directors. Be ready to talk about yourself for about 30 minutes and give examples which show how your abilities fit the role. The best way to make an impact? Be yourself and be prepared.
Step 5: Offer
If we think you have what it takes to be exceptional every day, we’ll make a formal written offer soon after your partner interview.
